Cyber Champions

Be a Cyber Champion — Support the UMBC Cyber Scholars Program!

The new UMBC Cyber Scholars Program was established to prepare a skilled and diverse pool of students who are eager to address this urgent need of protecting our country from serious cyber threats. The Cyber Scholars will represent a broad cross section of UMBC’s top IT students, with a special focus on underrepresented groups.

With the numerous cyber threats facing our country, it is critical that academic, government and corporations partner together to develop a pipeline of talented cyber security professional. In this spirit, we ask you to consider becoming a UMBC Cyber Champion. UMBC Cyber Champions will have numerous opportunities to interact with the Cyber Scholars in both formal and informal settings. Supporters will be offered opportunities to give guest lectures, speak on panels, participate in networking events and mentor individual students. The Cyber Scholars are required to participate in a cybersecruity internship during their junior or senior year. By their junior or senior year, the Cyber Scholars will already be familiar with Cyber Champion organizations and will be well-suited for internship positions.
