Associate Professor, Computer Science and Electrical Engineering
Kostas Kalpakis is an Associate Professor of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. He teaches courses in algorithms, databases, and operating systems.
Currently, Kalpakis is doing research in replication, software systems architectures, indexing, query processing, mining, resource management, and scheduling for federated multimedia systems. Funded by NASA and NSF, the project’s application domains are the Earth and Space science domains.Dr. Kalpakis in collaboration with Drs. Phatak and Sherman, is
investigating homomorphic–based secure and energy-efficient methods for in-network aggregation in wireless sensor networks.
Kalpakis is a member of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM), IEEE, Upsilon Pi Epsilon, and an associate member of Sigma Xi, the scientific research society. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from UMBC.
