Ongoing Opportunities
- Guest lectures in Cyber Practicum — These will be weekly opportunities for guest speakers to discuss various aspects of the cybersecurity field with Cyber Scholars and other interested students.
- Lead a Cyber Workshop — These are biweekly talks where facilitators discuss a topic related to cybersecurity and are encouraged to have an engaging, hands-on component for Cyber Scholars and other students to participate in.
September/October
- Pairing students with industry mentors — Scholars ranging from freshmen through seniors will be paired with industry professionals as mentors, who will offer relevant advice to help the students prepare for future careers in cybersecurity.
- Networking Event — Industry professionals will be invited to participate in this annual event to help students improve their networking skills.
November
- Cyber Scholars & Affiliates Event (TBD) — Industry professionals will be invited to a yet-to-be-determined event to interact with Cyber Scholars and program affiliates.
February/March
- Scholar Selection Day — Industry professionals will be invited to serve as members of interview teams to provide feedback about potential future Cyber Scholars.
- CWIT Affiliates: Ask Me Anything — Industry professionals who are also UMBC alumni will be invited to participate in this networking event for students and alumni.
April/May
- Spring Into Leadership Event — Industry professionals will be invited to participate in this annual event to network with students, faculty, and staff and hear a keynote address by a prominent woman in the engineering or computing field.
